Group 0(Noble Gas)

Properties
  • Monoatomic-exist as a single atom
  • Unreactive because they have a full outer shell and is stable, so it does not need to bond with other elements
Uses
  • Helium-Filling balloons
  • Neon-Advertising signs
  • Argon-Filling electric light bulb or filament lamp

Group VII(Halogen)

Physical Properties
  • Poor conductors of heat and electricity
  • Brittle
  • Low melting and boiling points
Chemical Properties
  • Gain 1 electron to form 1- negative ions
  • React with metals to form ionic compounds
  • React with non-metal to form covalent compounds

Displacement Reaction
  • A reaction that take place in Halogens
  • In a solution, the more reactive halogen will displace the less reactive haloge
